The Dong Hoa Hiep Village (in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province) is well-known for its poetic, airy scenery. Unlike the ancient Lam village and Phuoc Tich ancient village, the ancient village of Dong Hoa Hiep has a poetic, airy setting with ancient houses looming among the green orchards surrounded by peaceful Cai Be river. Tourists can enjoy the village's tranquil beauty by taking a canoe on the river or strolling along the winding path between the shady orchards.
One of the most impressive destinations for tourists in the ancient Dong Hoa Hiep village is the Ba Duc ancient house with the East-West architecture. The house was built in 1850 among a garden of more than 2 hectares with longan, milk, grapefruit, oranges, etc, creating a rustic scene that is no less poetic and romantic. If the front of the house is French style with round columns and curved dome, the interior is a special Vietnamese architectural space. The house still retains many precious and beautiful items, showing an elegant and great hobby of rich families in the ancient South
The main part of the house has a sophisticated set of antique tables and chairs. The two auxiliary cabinets have two ancient churches carved with nacre. Couples, lacquer, blue, edge of the door are carved sophisticated patterns. Memories of the owner, such as the moon guitar, pictures, kerosene lamp, vase, bell, round tables which are scattered in the house and they will make visitors like step into the space of ancient times. Ba Duc's ancient house is also a homestay destination attracting international tourists.
On occasions, Tet or when guests request, there will be groups of musicians to serve. Guests will enjoy the special performances with cast, musicians are the local people. Ba Duc's ancient house on average receives nearly 100 visitors per day or up to 500 times in peak time. In the ancient house complex in Dong Hoa Hiep, there is an ancient house of Tran Tuan Kiet built in 1838 with an area of nearly 1,000m².The house has architecture and textures in the style of the traditional garden house marking the ancient village in the northern delta has varied with the style of Dinh word, including 5 rooms. The house also preserves many precious objects such as: the set of tables and chairs with elaborate carvings, items made of Chinese ceramics (the Qing Dynasty). The wood things in the house are engraved with elegant patterns. Especially, there are 108 wooden pillars, the Japanese archaeologist ranked very highly groups of great beauties eternal country" in Vietnam. Mr. Kiet's ancient house on averagehas100 visitors each day.
Local authorities, every year, Dong Hoa Hiep village has more than 100,000 visitors to visit the architecture of the ancient houses and explore the orchards, learn the traditional craft, float on the Cai Be floating market.
